I Do Not Doubt

This mental joy we have, my dear, as one,
Though held apart by walls of land and sea,
Has made us lovers second unto none,
And giv’n imaginations cells of royalty.
Soon comes our high-dreamed friendship to its close,
When we will meet, with nose right close to nose,
And look into the centers of our eyes,
And breathe our breath, and know if we are wise.
Oh yes! I say ’twill be! We’ll see, we’ll see!
I do not doubt our arms to burn and burn,
To yearn with love our bodies’ flesh surround—
To make all one ere fall’n into the ground!
Oh, love, my sweet, sweet love, I love thee so,
There is no chance that romance shall un-grow!
