No Boy

You tell me, “Dear,
Please don’t get excited;
You’re not a little boy.”
“Yes ma’am,” I say, ignited
Into fireball of joy.
“Look at me,” you say real sweet,
“I’m steady as a stone.”
But you’ll be jumping in your feet
When I get you alone!
You’ll laugh and leap from here to there,
Excited that I’m everywhere,
Until I hold you in my arms
And kiss your “unexcited” charms.
Then you can tell me,
“Dear, you’re not a little boy,
But are a great big man to me
Who gives me fire of joy.”
