My Lady Clarinda

My Lady Clarinda, my Lady Love,
Is sweet as any flower.
Her soul is pure as sun above,
And I am in her power.
She orders me about all day
And makes me lay in resting.
I can’t go out and work or play,
She keeps me with caressing.
If I get up she shoves me down,
“Sit still,” she says, “be lazy.”
And while the world is spinning round
I love her like I’m crazy.
“You’ll break your bones” she says to me,
“You know you’re not too agile,”
And I must rest so patiently
Because I am so fragile.
But when I take her to my heart
And load her down with kissing,
I know I play the heavy part
And fragile is gone missing!
