To You

If I can make you happy, Sweet,
With anything I sing or say or do,
Set music dancing in your feet,
Or lift imagination’s wings inside of you,
If I can lend your lips a smile
That you pay instant back with laughs to me
(Though I am keeping not a file
And live to love and give you all things free),
If I can fill your day with light—
A light that cheers and stays with you all night,
And guides your hand with steadiness
To pen serenely pure heart happiness,
Oh, then is self-fulfillment true,
For then I give my whole life’s soul to you.
