Blessed

My darling reader, who reads my poems of light,
Who feeds upon their rays to move your soul
And matches them as brightness matches bright,
I know the earnest of your self-control—
Sincere and loyal, turning discipline
To quiet joy each night you write and win.
I know the beauty of your hard-edged mind,
Which softens some when my true lines you see,
And then, with heart and spirit self-assigned,
A flood of love comes pouring, you to me.
I know I’m in your joy, as you, my praise;
I know totality of great love’s ways.
I know I’m blessed to have a soul like you
To read my poems, and write, and love them, too.
