The Strange Familiar Places

“Give your life the best of you
In any place you’re going to;
Make yourself your own good root
And give all other roots the boot!”

This is my song, my ringing creed,
As I fly on to do my deed.
The true new spot where I set down
Will be my root, my throne and crown.

All is mine to make my own,
No matter if it’s little known.
The new is my familiar friend,
With great and strange around each bend.

Space and Distance follow me
To see what rare new thing will be,
And when they see it, loving leap
To feel my root sunk in them deep!

Planets far, and stars that are,
Await my shining rocket-car,
For I’m the seed of deeds new-done,
And they want, too, to join the fun!
