You Came Into My Life

You came into my life like gentle flame,
Not hot, but cool; no flares, but twinkles bright,
Like fire-flies that do not hurt the eyes.
I looked and laughed, till I was hypnotized,
Made dizzy by your rare love-twirling light.
And now I sing, imagine, am not tame,
But wildly write and dream, and dream and write,
Feel sudden, deeply, love ignited true,
Astonished by pure life I’d never known,
Immersed and sinking in images of you,
To all drink down, half-drowned in your live shows
Of thought so thoughtful, laughter without tears,
And wisdom of your mind that brightly glows—
A loving brightness set to flame for years.
