Oh, when my day begins a-new
I wake and sing, “I live for you!”
And though I know it’s for me, too,
The life in me but lives for you.
The poems I write are for your mind,
My fancied dreams are for your bliss,
And everything that is, or seems,
Flies out to you a true-love kiss.
Oh, when my day’s at point halfway,
I think of words would bring you cheer,
And like fair birds that wing in play
I sing, “May you find joy today!”
And when my day turns into night,
And all the sky’s a real dark blue,
I quiet sing, though with heart’s might,
“Oh Love, my Love, I live for you!”
