I Know

I do not make commitment to love you every day,
For I know I will love you till time has passed away.
You’ll be right here beside me in every poem I write,
Where wisest you will guide me with keenest eyes so bright.
I’ll look at you in wonder, feel stirring of my pen,
And feel inside the answer that love has won again.
Your smile will hold me helpless, your brow will urge me on,
Till suddenly I’m rhyming “dawn” and “dawn” and “dawn”!
Your lips will send me measures most marvelous to hear,
Your hair will brush my forehead, my temple and my ear,
And I will write unseeing of tender love so dear.
And that is why I sit here and say the these words I say:
I do not make commitment to love you every day,
For I know I will love you till time has passed away.
