As Deep

Respect can be as deep as love can be.
Though most men crave for love and love and love,
And yearn for passions turning into fire,
A cool mind’s calm respectability
Is like a mountain capped with snow above,
That does not yield to easy, fierce desire.
“As deep”? Or firmer than, more solid, true,
That prizes highest virtue deep in you?
Oh, independent thinker I respect,
You get my vote as spirit most elect,
And as respect within holds happy wings,
My spirit soars to know you know such things.
Then let us stand as equals, glad to see
Respect can be as deep as love can be.
