Oh, What, What…?

Oh, what, what can it mean, to say
That someone is the love of your whole life?
You loved before, but felt it only part
A something liked a lot, it might have been,
But not a rising flood that filled your heart.
Yea, filled heart and mind and body more than blood,
Till joy and pain exulted, drowned you, gave
You energy of passion and of dream,
And made imagination’s sky-vault burst,
Where nothing was impossible to do,
And still she over-floods you, yet you thirst,
for you don’t know if she’s in love with you.
And still, I only love her all the more
As I stand, waiting, on this high-tide shore.
