If I weren’t meant…

If I weren’t meant for you, nor you for me,
Then Meant is all mixed up, I surely see.
If we’re meant not, then Meant-Not’s mixed up, too.
And meaning must be fixed by me and you.
For what we mean starts in our minds and wills,
Commences like a babe who first steps takes,
Goes onward in delight of balanced thrills,
To feel new meaning of a fall that shakes.
So I have fall’n for you, as well you know,
And if you fall for me then Meant is good,
Restored is all his hardy healthihood,
While Meant-Not sleeps away in smiling glow.
Oh Meaning, be you up with each new day
To make my darling see you mean to stay!
