The Task Of Time

The task of Time is to divide us from desires,
While he performs with long perfections sure.
We light the night with writings made of fires
Which match the morning sun with verses pure,
Then send them to inspirer of our flame
That she may read our wonder in her name,
Which name to us unites her beauty’s face
With Nature’s face, yet taking nature’s place
To be more perfect flower for our sight,
More lovely, far, than our own beaming light.
Yet answer comes not fast, day crawls by;
The sun slow moves, or not; nothing, why?
And still we want, while all against conspires.
The task of Time is to divide us from desires.
