Were I the sun could open up your heart,
Were I the wind to spread your petals wide,
Were I a bee to sing about each part
While circling round your beauty hid inside;
Oh, were I nature in her happy hour,
To be king opener of queenly flower,
Then I would give the world to be all thine
If just one royal day you were all mine.
And yet this “day” would I make reign a year,
A lifetime year that Springtime’s end not know,
For season’s stop would see “Begin” appear,
Glorious, lovelier than present joys now show.
Then all our days of walking hand in hand
Would skip into Spring’s kiss at our command.
