O see! Set eyes upon the radiant moon!
O see! Take in star on star upon star!
This heaven sky, this large grand world of night,
Receives the beauty of our love’s great light,
And shines, shines joy smooth upon our eyes,
A mirror splend’rous, beaming perfect-wise
These “Yeas” in us a-ringing throat to tongue—
Would leap aloud old touch that is so young
Were we not ‘mazed that love could sail so far
As reign the moon-clasped sky and twinkling star.
O hear! What bells of silence—everywhere!
All nature, full of awe, blesses us to be;
Breathless, waits our paired soft steps in air,
Watching what love’s eyes, their worlds, will see.
