See not with eyes

See not with eyes of judgment than your own.
When looking at a painting, not just paint,
Welcome the whole subject, “Hi” what’s shown;
Then glow your eyes and mind with harmony.
Let beauty beam before you, seem a saint,
Ideal pure motionless, yet free,
With love-of-life the artist’s ‘complished goal,
Which he, with arrows of, shoots all his love.
Step back, then; look, the room’s more whole;
The simplest vases clearer seem than clear,
Their outlines high, their colors magnify,
They’re not the dull drab things they did appear.
True artists give the soul its own high test:
Can it receive, for joy, the very best.
