Etude Yuko

Dear Yuko’s beautiful soul, so spritely light,
Like Chopin’s music fluttering down a height,
Now flits and dances, flits, to dance again,
With ringing little bells on sweet-note feet,
While fingers dong-ding melodies to men
Who catch and catch them till they’re filled complete.
Then up and off, they’re swinging to a star—
Imagination’s light showing dreams not far—
Where Yuko’s smile is shining soft and bright.
Lift hands and clap, clap rapidly and cheer!
The soul of Yuko wins applause all year!
Just one? No! Ten times ten, life through,
The soul of Yuko singing true and true—
Our fluttering Chopin butterfly so dear!
