On The Podium

Olympian athlete, leaping high,
Or running fast as wings can fly,
Tumbling, bouncing, swimming fleet,
Charged in spirit head to feet,
Giving all you’ve got with zest
To do your very single best,
For country, yes, but that’s not first;
It is your “I” that has most thirst—
To claim your place on medaled throne
And know your pride’s for you alone!

Olympian poet’s flowery lays
Have crowned won gold with selfish praise,
While smiles in eyes for high success
Surmounts the podium Happiness.
