Love for The Night

Love for the day is worth—-day!
Love for the night is worth—-night!

When you’ve got things going your way
And the dark is mingling with light,
When a glad song soars to a peak
And a sad song sings what you seek,

When the height of a film begins—
At the end where the hero wins,
And the battle for justice and good
Shows an evil man slain where he stood.

And the victor is valiant and brave
Who at last does his heroine save,
And the music goes rush to the sea
To crash joyous and loudly and free!

And you stand and applaud at the end
With your lover right by, or a friend,
And the dark of the theater’s filled
With the fighters for life who are thrilled!

Then you walk on out to your car
With an urge to drive fast very far,
With a roar and a hand on your horn
That blasts, “Here, too, are two true re-born!”

Then you glide on up with your love
To a hilltop grandly above,
Where the starlights of earth twinkle low
And the star-beams of sky mirror high,
And o’er the horizon, just so,
You both see where your dreams will fly!

Love for the day is worth—-day!
Love for the night is worth—-night!
