Light To Spare

Child, what lights your eyes?
Are these stairs such fun?
Climb into the skies
When they’re done.

Climb in dream through cloud,
Climb awake uphill;
Climb, and be you proud
All you will.

Child, what moves your lips?
Are these words your joy?
Language goes on trips
With my boy!

“Daddy, look!” shouts he,
On the topmost stair.
Look I up to see
Light to spare.
