The Strong and the Weak

The weak came wandering over the hills. Their food was almost gone. Their clothes were rags. Outside the little farm town of Do-It they stopped. They numbered around fifty. In the town a few rich farmers stood together talking about the up-coming monster storm, due in four days. They needed to get their peaches and apricots harvested fast. One of them, spotting the weak, said, Let’s see if those people want to work.”

For three days and nights they worked and all the fruit was harvested. For those three days and nights they were given food and water. Then they were paid. They bought new clothing, bought more food and other items for travel. They stayed, rent free, in a barn to ride out the storm. A day later they went on their wandering way.

Is this the story of how the strong devoured the weak?
