Silent Eye (a child’s poem)

I wake up in the darkness
And nothing do I see
But one little mark of brightness
Moving steadily.

I watch it through my window,
A tiny dot of red,
Just one little mark of brightness
Moving overhead.

And now I see it winking,
As if it tried to say,
“Go on, my child, keep thinking,
And you will win your way.”

And now it’s past my window,
A silent eye of flight,
Just one little mark of brightness
This happy Christmas night
