For All In Me

The man is gone whom I admired;
His words were dawn, and I, inspired.
I sat apart; he did not see
That I was looking up for me.
And so I cry some minutes’ space;
Yea, one good cry for one high face,
For one voice strong whose thoughts ran straight,
Immortal song that mastered fate!
Yea, gladdest tears and proudest pain
I live and give, and shed and gain!
For all in me that is my love
Soars on heroic wings above
To heights of light he gave and shone
That now remain in me alone,
That I may flash my spirit bright
To climb this mount of cloudy night!
