Night, and Day

Unto the altar I went,
Nor bent, nor said a prayer.
Unto the altar I went
And stood, and stripped me bare.
The worshippers turned their heads.

I pushed the altar over;
It fell with a crash.
I stood, a naked man,
Golden, glowing, brash.
