The snowfall melts away and leaves the hills
To sunlight growing warm each passing day.
Then it’s all of a sudden there’s leaves out of buds,
And the grasses spear up into air in quick floods,
And strong song bursts through my lips where I stand,
And long gone spring’s a white flower in hand!
Around the hills I watch you lightly walk
Through sunrays slanting soft upon your face.
Then it’s all of a sudden you look and you see
That the man at the top is your wonder—it’s me!
And sky-high cries ring all round where I stand,
And run, run, run, runs my love to my hand!
