(This one was written some years ago for a cousin of mine who was wondering about love.)
I float above all leaves and flowers,
streams and rivers,
towns and roads and bridges.
I float above all things that are—
Except for myself, the blue sky,
And a few white clouds,
small clouds, light clouds,
happy-to-be clouds,
soft and pure,
weightless,
right,
just
like
me.
I
like
this
open space.
Night comes,
And my fingers touch the stars,
And the notes they make are as a rainbow’s soul
Singing through Forever and Everything,
weightless,
light,
just
like
me.
Another day, and back into the blue I go,
Floating like a white cloud
kissed by the sun,
yet never burning,
never turning back,
never fearing,
steering true,
clearing,
cheering,
free,
weightless,
right,
just
like
me.
From day to night and night to day
I sail straight on my happy way,
and the world brightens,
and a prince wakes up,
and looks, and sings,
invincible!
climbing,
leaping,
floating free,
airy,
weightless,
right,
just
like
me!
