Go-Town (Inspired by a painting)

Shiny cars parallel the wide way;
Gold street-lights glow in twilight day.
Smart-dressed shoppers just strolling along;
Somewhere a whistling of sweet love-song.
Two children walk without their mother,
Little girl red and big blue brother.
Movie theater’s showing a pioneer west’,
When men came heroes to do their best.
Now twilight deepens, the stars spring out;
The round earth peacefully rolls about.
The stores are closing, how bright the moon!
Cars push off in fading croon.
Lights stand looking all night long;
Silence listens for day’s new song.
