Yes

(A tribute to the young sailor, Jessica Watson, who did what she wanted to do.)

Free of thoughts and worries
Of anyone’s yes or no,
Jessica sailed around the world,
And yes, she loved it so—

Alone upon the great wide sea,
Alone with wind and wave,
Alone with will, her company,
And spirit calm and brave.

Alone without authority
But her own judgment sure,
Against, and with! the elements,
A single ego, pure!

Yes, we hail you, sailor;
Jess, we love, give praise.
Your indepndence lifts us
And brightens all our days.
