Grand Prize—Exploitation

To grasp the earth, to shape the earth,
To make for man his things of worth,
It is your virtue, is your right—
Exploit away and work with might!

Take up the rock, cut down the tree,
Then tunnel mountains through to sea!
Dig deepest caverns, grasp the coal!
Pump up the oil, a happy goal!

Blast hills apart and find the heart,
To gold and silver give a start!
Rouse lonely plain with laughing seed,
Then watch it spring to joy, indeed!

These things of earth that lie and wait,
That have no use for their still state,
Give motion, form, give meaning to,
Bestow on them the life of you!

Exploit away and work with might;
Into the earth give thinking light.
With plans and schemes and calloused hands
Let Manufacture rule the lands.

O Earth, O Man’s great Factory,
He builds you up to victory,
For from his soul he gives the sum
Of each glad thing that you become.

Take up the rock, cut down the tree,
Then tunnel mountains through to sea!
It is your virtue, is your right—
Exploit away and work with might!

The mind of man, it must not pause,
It must not stop for senseless laws;
It must not heed an evil creed,
But go on working though it bleed!

Then damn environmentalists!
And damn the beasts’ protected list!
And damn the hate of ability!
And damn the fear of being free!

O Justice, come, your time is here!
Objectivism, raise a cheer!
Morality, with gladdened eyes,
Gives Exploitation highest prize!

The only men who love the earth
Are they who shape for human worth,
Who see, and think, who use and lift,
And raise to man his man-made gift.
