Practice

Grand piano for hands that take command,
Speaking keys and rods and hammers,
Striking new, softly, felt on steel strings,
Felt of the soul dreaming, laughing,
Ringing, as it vibes into the wood
The do-able dong! of indelible swellable song,
The fusable ding! of how thinly and fragible thing,
The beautiful beat of repeatable needable gain—-
The phrase that skips in the sky—–
“Undefeated too, am I!”
Ringing, hammering, playing,
Again and again and again!
